PRIVACY / UPDATED 19 SEPTEMBER 2026

Your noises.
Your business.

This notice describes the Tonkro iPad app and the Tonkro website. They handle information differently.

Chimelistens without passing it on.
App privacy at a glance: the Tonkro iPad app does not track you, show advertising, require a Tonkro account, or collect personal data for Tonkro. Audio and projects stay on your device unless you choose to export or share them.

The iPad app

Tonkro processes instrument audio, note input, imported samples, and projects on your iPad. The app does not require a Tonkro account and does not include advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics SDKs. It does not automatically upload projects, microphone recordings, samples, contacts, identifiers, usage history, or diagnostics to Tonkro.

Project state, settings, sample mappings, recordings, waveforms, and analysis data are stored locally. Imported audio remains part of your local music workspace. Tonkro accesses a file only after you choose it through Apple’s system file controls.

When you export or share, you choose a destination using system controls. A complete project bundle can include recorded takes and imported samples. Files saved to a cloud provider, device backups, and Apple’s optional diagnostic sharing are governed by the settings and policies of those services, not a Tonkro cloud-sync system.

Permissions and connected equipment

Microphone permission is requested only when you choose a recording workflow. The microphone is used to capture audio into your project; finishing or cancelling capture closes Tonkro’s recording session unless you explicitly enable monitoring.

MIDI input controls notes, pads, transport, and learned parameters. Motion input can modulate sound. These signals are processed for the musical action you request and are not used to build an advertising profile. You can change available permissions in iPad Settings.

Audio interfaces, MIDI controllers, cloud file providers, and other connected services may operate under their own terms and privacy policies.

Optional sound-pack purchases

Where offered, optional sound packs use Apple’s in-app purchase system. Apple processes payment through your Apple Account; Tonkro does not receive your payment-card details. The app checks verified transaction information through StoreKit to determine which packs you own and to restore eligible purchases. This information is not sent to a Tonkro account database or used for advertising.

Previews and prepared sounds are stored locally. A cached sound does not establish purchase ownership. Sounds already copied into saved projects remain part of those projects; restoring a purchase does not restore a deleted project or recording. Export a project bundle to back up your music separately.

The website and email updates

If you sign up for email updates, the website sends the email address you provide through our Hostinger email service to the Tonkro team’s mailbox for Tonkro news and updates. The message records the time and your consent. The current signup flow is email-based; it does not create a Tonkro app account.

The website host and email providers process the technical information needed to deliver pages and messages, such as connection details and delivery logs. The current website application code does not add advertising trackers or analytics scripts. Provider-level logging and retention are separate from the app’s local music storage.

The interactive browser demo plays sound after your interaction. It does not need microphone access to synthesize its demo sounds.

When you ask for help

If you email support, the mailbox receives your address, message, and any attachments you choose to send. These are used to understand and respond to your request. Do not send private recordings or complete project bundles unless you intend to share them. The support page’s email button prepares a draft; it does not silently submit diagnostic data.

Information in email and delivery systems may be processed outside your country. Storage and backup practices depend on the providers involved. This notice does not promise an automatic deletion schedule that the current email-based workflow does not implement.

Your choices and contact

For questions, access or correction requests, or to ask for deletion of email signup or support information, email people@bartlabs.in with “Tonkro privacy” in the subject. To leave the email list, ask from the address you signed up with so the team can identify the record.

Back up your music before removing app data. Removing Tonkro from your iPad can remove its local files; exported copies and device or cloud backups must be managed separately in their own locations.

Your available privacy rights depend on where you live. Contact the Tonkro team at the address above about exercising those rights. We will update this notice when the product’s handling of information changes.
