REPAIR BENCH / NO SILLY QUESTIONS
Strange sounds?
Good.
Strange problems?
Let’s help.
A little troubleshooting, a human inbox, and absolutely no need to feed the machine your entire project.
Email people@bartlabs.in. The button opens your email app with a report template; nothing is sent automatically. No email app? Copy the address and checklist below.
Try these little repairs.
The machines are moving, but I hear nothing.
Start with the iPad volume low, then check the current audio output, master level, and track mute/solo state. Play a fresh key or pad. In Diagnostics & reset, check the signal path and use Restore Output if the master has been silenced. If you are using USB audio, test the iPad output separately. Animation is not proof that an audible signal is reaching your speakers.
A note is stuck. The little beast will not stop.
Stop transport and check latch, Hold, sustain pedal, and looped samples. Release held notes, then use Panic if needed. Lower output before reconnecting a controller. Tell us which controller and sequencer were active if this repeats.
My microphone or USB input is silent.
Check the selected capture source and input route. For microphone capture, enable Tonkro in iPad Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone. Test a short recording. Use headphones when monitoring to avoid feedback; never troubleshoot a live microphone at full speaker volume.
My controller is not responding.
Connect one controller at a time. Confirm the selected MIDI input and mapping profile, and try a key or pad before testing knobs. Some devices need a powered hub. If notes work but knobs do not, check the CC assignments. Include the controller model, hub, and connection route in your report.
The sequencer plays, but my recorded track is empty.
Check the selected destination track, recording source, and loop boundaries. Use PRINT / Performance Print to commit the running phrase, then stop recording and play back the recorded track. Hearing a sequencer is not the same as recording it.
My project opened in recovery mode.
Do not delete the app or reset the project. Keep the preserved recovery package if one is offered. The sample and recording vaults may still contain your audio. Contact support with the recovery message first; only share a project package if you are comfortable sharing the sounds it contains.
Export failed, or I cannot find the file.
Check free space, loop boundaries, and the destination selected in the share sheet. Try saving to a local folder in Files. Wait for the export to finish before switching away. A project bundle and a stereo audio export are different files. Open the exported audio outside Tonkro to check it.
Can I make the workshop less wiggly?
Enable Reduce Motion in iPad Settings → Accessibility → Motion. Musical parameter feedback remains available with restrained movement. If text, contrast, touch targets, or assistive-technology behavior get in your way, please tell us the exact screen and control.
How do optional sound packs work?
Open Sample Map → Library. Preview a sound with its speaker button. Where purchasing is available, the locked sound shows Apple’s localized pack price and opens the purchase flow. Packs are optional one-time unlocks, not subscriptions. After unlocking, select a sound again to assign it. The core workstation remains free. If the price is unavailable, previews and free sounds still work; do not assume a purchase completed.
I bought a pack, but its sounds are locked.
Use Restore Purchases above the Library grid with the Apple Account used for the purchase and an internet connection. A pending purchase must be approved before it unlocks. If restoration fails, keep the error message and contact support; do not send passwords or payment-card details. Cached files alone do not prove ownership. Restoring purchases does not restore deleted projects, so back up your project bundles separately.
Can I use DJ beat sync and headphone cue?
DJ beat sync requires confirmed beat grids. Cues, loops, key lock, recording, and print-to-tape are available. Independent headphone cue requires a verified four-output audio interface.
A useful bug report, minus the homework.
Copy this checklist into your message. A short screen recording can help, but please leave out private audio, passwords, and unrelated personal information.
Tonkro version / build: iPad model: iPadOS version: Page, engine, and control: What I expected: What happened: Steps to reproduce: Audio output / USB hub / MIDI controller: Does this happen in a new project? (only test after backing up)
If support asks for a diagnostic or recovery package, review it before sharing. Complete project bundles can contain your recorded audio and imported samples. See how privacy works.
Just finding your feet?
The first-loop guide follows one idea from a note to an export. For feature limits and what is still taking shape, read the workshop notes.
