DRUMS + SEQUENCERS / TONKRO 1.0 GUIDE / 13 SEPTEMBER 2026
Put your mischief on repeat.
Playable pads and seven different ways to set notes in motion.
Start with the pads
Drum Garden has 16 slots. Select a pad to edit its Pitch, Start, End, and Level. Start and End set the portion of the sample you hear. Gate, Once, and Loop change playback behavior; reverse and fine tuning add more character.
Automatic slicing finds candidate hits in a sample. Audition the pads and refine their boundaries by ear. Lift and Drop copy a voice between slots. Save a project bundle before a big kit experiment.
Choose a musical machine
Pattern is a step grid for rhythms and chords. Turn steps on and off, set the length, and try a starter beat. Route Arp turns held notes into repeating routes with controls for division, gate, swing, and note behavior.
Endless stores a sequence of chords, rests, and ties, up to 128 steps. Finger has eight pattern memories with Join, Replace, and Fill In behaviors. Sketch reads notes along a drawn path. Tumble uses note objects and collisions. Hold retains notes for chords and drones.
The melodic instrument and drums remember their focused sequencers separately. Check which machine is selected when switching between keys and pads. Latch or Hold can intentionally keep notes playing after you lift your hands.
Turn repetition into a take
- Set tempo and a loop that fits the phrase.
- Choose a starter pattern or enter your own notes and steps.
- Listen through a full cycle before recording. Check the selected track.
- Use PRINT / Performance Print to capture the running performance. Stop recording, then listen back to the recorded track.
When a note will not leave
First check latch, Hold, and looped sample playback. Stop transport and clear the held notes. If a disconnected controller leaves a note sounding, use Panic. Turn output down before investigating; do not repeatedly reconnect at full volume.
